Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
Introduction
Yueliang is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, store, use, and disclose information when you use the Yueliang mobile app, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service").
If you have any questions regarding this Privacy Policy, please contact us at [email protected].
Information We Collect
When you use our Service, we collect information that you provide to us and certain information that is automatically collected. Some of this information may identify you ("Personal Information"), and some may not identify you ("Anonymous Information").
Information You Provide to Us
You may give us information by signing up for an account, entering information through forms, using our Service, or contacting us. The categories of information you may provide include:
- Identifiers, such as name, email address, username, or other similar identifiers
- Birth information, such as date of birth, time of birth, and gender, used to generate personalized readings
- Face photos, only if you choose to use our optional face reading feature, used to generate your personalized reading (see the "Face Reading" section below)
- Calendar preferences, such as selected deities, festivals, and reminder settings
- Your marketing communications choice for marketing email and promotional push notifications
- Account preferences and settings
- Communications with us, such as customer service inquiries
Information Collected Automatically
When you access our Service, we may automatically collect information linked to your device, including:
- IP address, operating system and version, device type and language preference
- Information related to your behavior and activity while using our Service
- Technical and diagnostic information to maintain service reliability
- Advertising identifiers (such as Apple's IDFA), when you grant permission through your device settings, to measure advertising effectiveness
- Push notification information, including your Apple Push Notification service (APNs) device token and timezone, after you grant iOS notification permission
Marketing Communications and Notifications
During onboarding, we offer one optional choice covering both marketing email and promotional push notifications. This choice is separate from your reminder settings, iOS notification permission, and App Tracking Transparency permission. You can decline it and continue using the Service.
Marketing email
We do not currently send marketing email. If we introduce marketing email in the future, we will honor your stored marketing choice and include an unsubscribe link in every marketing email.
Push notification delivery
We collect your Apple Push Notification service (APNs) device token and timezone after you grant iOS notification permission, link this information to your account, and use Apple Push Notification service (APNs) to deliver notifications through Apple.
We use your stored marketing-push choice to manage promotional push notifications. When Apple reports a token as no longer active, we mark that device token inactive so we stop attempting delivery to it.
Changing your choices
The in-app Settings Offers toggle updates your marketing-push choice. It does not change your locally scheduled reminder settings or your marketing email choice. Turning Offers off does not itself delete the device token. iOS Settings controls whether notifications are delivered to your device; it does not change your stored marketing choice.
How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to provide you with the best possible Service and continually improve it over time. Specifically, we may use your information to:
- Provide the Service and related features
- Create, maintain, and service user accounts and profiles
- Respond to your inquiries and requests about our Service
- Administer, maintain, analyze, improve, and customize the Service
- Send transactional messages directly relating to your use of the Service
- Provide customer and technical support
- Conduct analytics and research to improve our Service
- Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud or other misconduct
- Comply with legal obligations and protect our business and users
With your permission, we may use advertising identifiers (such as Apple's Identifier for Advertisers) to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. You can control this through the App Tracking Transparency prompt on iOS or through your device settings at any time.
How We Generate Content
Our Service uses a combination of traditional Chinese calendar algorithms, curated cultural databases, and AI-assisted natural language processing to provide calendar information, festival details, and personalized readings. For calendar and birth-based readings, we use only non-identifying parameters (such as birth date, time, and gender) — we do not send your name, email, account ID, or other personally identifying information to third-party content providers.
The one exception is our optional face reading feature: if you choose to use it, the photo you provide is sent to our third-party AI provider solely to generate your reading. See the "Face Reading" section below for how that photo is handled.
Third-party providers used for content generation do not retain or use these inputs for training purposes.
Face Reading
Face reading is an optional feature that generates a cultural, entertainment-oriented character reading from a photo you choose to provide. It is not facial recognition or identity verification: we do not use your photo to identify you, create a faceprint, or match you against any database.
Your consent
The feature is entirely optional. Before any photo is captured or uploaded, we ask for your explicit, opt-in consent in the app. You can decline and continue using the rest of the Service, and you can stop using face reading at any time.
How your photo is used
When you use the feature, the photo you provide is sent to our third-party AI provider solely to generate your reading. The provider acts as our service provider and does not retain your photo or use it to train its models. We do not sell your photo, share it for advertising, or use it for tracking.
Retention and deletion
Your photo is retained only while the associated reading exists. You can request deletion of your photo and its associated data at any time by emailing [email protected], or by deleting your account, which permanently removes it from our servers.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your Personal Information for money. We disclose limited information to advertising partners as described in the "Third-Party Advertising Partners" section below.
We take your privacy seriously and may disclose Personal Information only as follows:
- To business partners and service providers: We share your Personal Information with our business partners, service providers, and subcontractors as required to offer you our Service, including:
- Cloud hosting and infrastructure providers
- Authentication and security service providers
- Error monitoring and diagnostic services
- Customer support and communication services
- Apple Push Notification service (APNs) for notification delivery
- Advertising and analytics partners for campaign measurement (with your consent)
- For legal compliance:We may disclose your data in response to lawful requests by public authorities, to comply with legal obligations, or to protect our rights and users' safety.
- Business transfers: If we get involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, we may share your information with the acquiring company.
Service providers acting on our behalf must protect Personal Information consistently with this Privacy Policy and applicable law. Advertising partners handle information under their linked privacy policies and applicable terms.
Data Shared with Apple for Refund Reviews
When you request a refund for an In-App Purchase through Apple, Apple may ask us to provide information about your use of the purchased content to assist with reviewing your refund request. This information may include:
- App session activity (number of sessions and total usage time)
- Account age (how long you have been a user)
- Purchase and refund history (aggregated dollar amounts, not individual transactions)
- Whether the purchased content was delivered and functioning properly
- Account status (active or terminated)
This data is shared only with Apple and only when you initiate a refund request. Apple uses this information solely to assist with reviewing your refund request, in accordance with Apple's Privacy Policy.
You can opt out of this data sharing at any time in the app's Settings. If you opt out, we will not share any consumption data with Apple when you request a refund. Opting out does not affect your ability to use the app or request refunds.
Third-Party Advertising Partners
We work with Meta and TikTok for advertising measurement, attribution, analytics, and optimization:
- Meta Platforms, Inc. (Facebook and Instagram) — Meta Privacy Policy
- TikTok — TikTok Privacy Policy
Depending on the features you use and your privacy choices, these partners may receive:
- Email address and name for Meta, and email address for TikTok
- Apple’s Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA)
- App and purchase activity, including registration, trial, and subscription events, product, price and currency, and event time
We use contact details or IDFA for individual matching only when App Tracking Transparency is allowed on that device. Permission applies only to the device where you grant it; permission on one device does not authorize another. If tracking is not allowed, we do not use IDFA, email, or name for individual matching. Limited advertising SDK operation and aggregate measurement provided by Apple may continue.
Changing your answer
You can revoke tracking permission at any time on your iPhone at Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → Yueliang. Turning tracking off stops future individual matching after the change takes effect but cannot recall information already received by a partner. The limited, non-matching activity described above may continue.
Data Security and Storage
We have implemented technical and organizational precautions to protect the confidentiality, security, and integrity of your Personal Information. However, no website or transmission can guarantee complete security. The Personal Information you provide is generally stored on servers in the United States.
If you are located outside the United States, please be aware that your Personal Information will be transferred to our servers in the United States and governed by applicable U.S. data protection laws.
Data Retention
We retain your Personal Information for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. When information is no longer necessary, we delete it or keep it in a form that does not identify you.
Upon account deletion, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal, regulatory, or security purposes.
We keep advertising-related Personal Information only as long as needed for the purposes described above. Account deletion removes it from Yueliang subject to the exceptions above, but does not delete information already held by Meta or TikTok. You may exercise applicable rights directly with those partners through their privacy policies.
Face photos provided for the face reading feature are retained only while the associated reading exists, and can be deleted at any time. See the "Face Reading" section above for details.
