Travel Palace

Overview

The Travel Palace (遷移宮) covers everything that happens outside the home — travel, relocation, external social activities, and how the person is perceived in unfamiliar environments. It is the opposite palace to the Life Palace, creating a complementary pair: the Life Palace shows the core self, while the Travel Palace shows how that self operates in the wider world. A strong Travel Palace often indicates someone who thrives away from home, while a weak one may suggest that local, familiar environments produce better results.

What This Palace Governs

Travel, relocation, external activities, public image in unfamiliar settings, and opportunities that come from outside the person's established environment.

Palace Relationships

In ZWDS, palaces interact through structural relationships. The three-harmony group (三合) shares influence, the opposite palace (对宫) provides a contrasting perspective, and adjacent palaces represent neighboring life domains.

How to Read This Palace

Compare the Travel Palace directly with the Life Palace. When both are strong, the person is consistent across contexts. When they differ significantly, the person may present very differently at home versus in public.
